hello and welcome to a little endeavor that is called the Sayer to Weatherford voice. This Podcast and website has been brewing for about a year.
Who am I?
Not sure how I was going to get each weekly show recorded taken care of and posted, but I have been a podcaster for 14 years. I have been running some form of Podcasts for the majority of that time. Longest running was my Relaxed meal podcast that ended last year.
What is the podcast about?
The podcast is a semi hyper local podcast while most shows that you pick up are about a particular topic. Our topics come from particular region and that region is Western Oklahoma from Sayer to Weatherford. In the whole I-40 corridor of that area. That means we talk about not just Sayre Oklahoma, We also talk about events and topics covering Elk, City, Clinton, and ending in Weatherford. Now, yes that is a lot of information that is going to be discussed once a week. So don’t expect this podcast episodes to be a little 15 minute rundown.
The show is poor the folks in this area. It is also for those folks who used to live in this area. It is also for those people who are interested in coming to this area. We’ll be talking about Civic events that are going on so you’ll know about when Elk city rodeo is happening, or events that are going on at SWOSU. Is there a parade going on in Clinton? You can find out if there is and when it happens. Christmas in July at Foss Lake we will talk about that too and more.
we’re not just talking about the fun stuff. We’re also talking about different concerns and issues that have cropped up from time to time in these different communities.
This is A community podcast. That means if you have a topic that needs to be discussed you will be able to reach out to me and we can have that discussion. This podcast is going to be about Western Oklahoma as a community and help spread news information and more.
Why?
Well there are plenty of ways to get information about Western Oklahoma, true. However, I would like for it to be in one place make it easy for people to come in. Look see what’s going on because right now everything is kind of scattered around you have Community pages on Facebook. You’ve got the different news groups talking about different things That may or may not have anything to do with Western Oklahoma.
So I wanted to just see if
- if this is something that is feasible to do
- If it is feasible, what would that actually look like?
- If I can help the communities benefit in someway than I would deem this site a success
What else can we expect?
so besides the podcast, my plans are to have an area wide event calendar, a story submission page active discussions with community members and community leaders on top of that. Now this doesn’t mean just the City, councils and mayors, but business leaders as well.
